Contest Rules and Regulations 2012
Contest Dates and Eligibility
The contest is organized by the National Capital Commission (hereafter referred to as "NCC").
The contest will be held in Canada, starting on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 6 pm (EST), and ending Monday, February 27, 2012, at 4 pm (EST) (hereinafter referred to as “the duration of the contest”).
The contest is open to Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time that they enter the contest. Employees, representatives or agents of the NCC, or any one of our partners offering prizes, as well as the people who reside with these aforementioned persons, are not eligible to participate in the contest.
No purchase is necessary to enter this contest.
How to Participate
You can participate online at www.contest.winterlude.gc.ca by casting your vote for your favourite pairs ice carving – and by filling out and submitting the electronic entry form. Please note that a limit of one (1) entry form per valid email or street address will be accepted.
Your Winterlude entry form can be submitted from Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 6 pm (EST) to Monday, February 27, 2012, at 4 pm (EST).
Prize Package
A round trip for two (2) people – the winner and a guest – anywhere WestJet flies in Canada, courtesy of WestJet.

Maximum retail value of the prize package is $3200. Exact retail value of the prize package depends upon the place of residence of the winner and their guest, and the Canadian destination serviced by WestJet chosen by the winner.
The winner and the guest are responsible for transportation to and from their place of residence to a major Canadian city airport where WestJet flies. The winner and their guest are also responsible for acquiring all the necessary personal insurance before the trip. All meals, gratuities and any additional expenses related to the use of or claiming of the prize, as well as all personal expenses are the entire responsibility of the contest winners.
The round trip from WestJet must be taken before February 22, 2013; otherwise, it will be cancelled. The prize for air travel is offered subject to availability and promotional space at the time of the booking. The prize is not valid for redemption on WestJet Vacations’ packages. Peak dates such as statutory holidays (long weekends) and airline blackout periods (such as Christmas, Easter and Spring break etc.) are not available for this prize.
The phones from Rogers must be claimed before March 15, 2012; otherwise, this prize will be cancelled. The prize does not include a service plan.
If a portion of the prize is not used for any reason beyond the NCC’s control, no compensation will be provided to the winner or his or her guest.
Selection of the Prize Winner
On Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 3 pm (EST), at the NCC’s headquarters in Ottawa, upon closure of the contest, the NCC will do the draw.
The NCC will notify the selected participant by sending him or her one (1) email at the address indicated on the entry form or one (1) telephone call/message at the number indicated on the entry form on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 with one follow-up telephone call/message on Thursday, March 1, 2012 and a second follow-up on Monday, March 5, 2012, at the telephone numbers indicated on the entry form.
Awarding of the Prize
In order for the selected participant to be awarded the prize package, he or she must fulfill the following requirements:
The participant must respond before Monday, March 5, 2012 5 pm (EST) to the email and/or telephone call(s)/message(s) that the NCC will have sent between February 29 and March 5, 2012. The participant may reply by email at info@ncc-ccn.ca or by telephone at 613-239-5000 or 1-866-661-3530 (TTY).
The NCC will then send release forms for the selected participant and his or her guest. The participant must identify the guest who will be taking the trip. The participant must sign his or her own release form, and have his or her guest sign a form. The signed forms must then be returned to the NCC within 10 days of the date they were received by the participant. Upon receiving the duly completed and signed release forms, the NCC will contact the winner to finalize the arrangements.
Failure to respect any of these above-mentioned conditions or any other condition contained in this document will result in the disqualification of the selected participant. A new draw will take place in accordance with the present set of rules.
Odds of Winning
By casting one (1) vote for your favourite ice carving– and by filling out and submitting the electronic entry form, you obtain one (1) chance of winning.
By telling up to five (5) friends that you have voted in the “Rogers People’s Choice Award - Best Winterlude Ice Carving Contest” by entering their name(s) and email(s) after casting your vote and submitting the electronic entry form, you obtain up to five (5) additional chances of winning. You obtain one (1) additional chance of winning by telling one (1) friend, two (2) additional chances of winning by telling two (2) friends, three (3) additional chances of winning by telling three (3) friends, four (4) additional chances of winning by telling four (4) friends, and five (5) additional chances of winning by telling five (5) friends.
By posting the fact that you have voted in the “Rogers People’s Choice Award – Best Winterlude Ice Carving Contest” on your Facebook profile after casting your vote and submitting the electronic entry form, you obtain five (5) additional chances of winning.
An individual thus has up to a maximum of eleven (11) chances of winning.
The odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received over the duration of the contest.
Entries May Be Disqualified
All information provided by participants during registration must be complete, truthful and legible.
Any entry form that is incomplete or illegible, contains false information, or is otherwise not in compliance will be cancelled and become ineligible for the prize.
The NCC reserves the right to disqualify any individual, or to cancel one or more entries from any person taking part in this contest attempting to enter through means that do not conform to contest regulations or are unfair to other participants (for example, the use of automated equipment to enter the contest, hacking, number of entries exceeding the allowable limit, etc.). This person could be referred to the proper judicial authorities.
Any attempt by a participant or any other individual to deliberately damage the NCC website, to alter the entry process in any way or to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the NCC reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant or individual to the fullest extent permitted by the law.
Prizes Must be Accepted As Is
The prize must be accepted as awarded with no guaranty and cannot be exchanged, redeemed for cash, transferred to another person, or combined with any other offer. The NCC reserves the right, with no restriction, to replace the prize by a prize of equal or greater value.
Participants Must Abide by Contest Rules
By participating in this contest, all participants accept the rules and regulations as described herein and any decision rendered by the NCC, which are final and without appeal.
Release From Liability
The NCC is not responsible for any printing or typographical errors contained in any document related to this contest.
The NCC, their advertising and promotional agencies, employees, agents, consultants, directors, partners, suppliers and representatives are released from all responsibility relative to the malfunction of any computer component, application or any communication line, relative to the loss or absence of the communication network or relative to all transmissions that are faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or deleted by any computer or network that could limit or impede the possibility of any person participating in this contest, and are also released from all responsibility for any damage or loss that could result directly or indirectly, all or in part, from the downloading of any Internet page or application and by the transmission of all information related to entering this contest.
The NCC shall not be responsible for any failure of the web site during the promotion or for any problems or technical malfunction of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email, on-line, or Internet entry to be received by the NCC. In addition, the NCC shall not be responsible for any technical problem, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. The NCC reserves the right, at their discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the NCC corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest.
Permission to Use Winners’ Name, etc.
By participating in the contest, winners accept that their entries, names, place of residence, voice and image can be used for promotional, marketing or informational purposes in any media or format (including the Internet) for this contest or any similar contest in the future, without any other form of remuneration than the prize awarded. They agree to sign any document or waiver intended to vouchsafe this acceptance or considered necessary by the NCC.
Entries Become the Property of the NCC
Entries to this contest become the property of the NCC, who will not be obliged to communicate with participants, except with the participant who is selected as the winner of the prize.
